July/August 2007

Hello friends! The music has been really busy this year. God has opened a lot of doors, and altogether, I have about 60 plus concerts lined up this year. I have met so many great people and have a lot of new friendships! I hope that the Lord has used these concerts to draw people closer to Himself, and to also help those churches to come together as one unit, to be used and show compassion in their own communities.

As it worked out this year, I went more outside of my usual 5 state area. I was able to share in GA, FL, MN and even in Germany…

I led worship at an Army base in Hanau, and also got a chance to see my daughter and grandkids there…

In February, I had the chance to lead worship for Covenant Keepers 2007; a 3 day seminar for 330 UMC pastors in Illinois…

When I was in GA, I sang at a cowboy church called the Open Range, where they worshipped in a barn… whatever it takes to reach out for Christ!! I also got a chance to do some riding…

Since my van was not running all that great at the time, the Lord led a friend of mine to provide a rental for me and my son, Cody, on this FL trip…

Cody and I also took some time to do some rock climbing, on the way back from FL…

I sang in FL in March, just as people were starting to head back up north. Here is me and Pastor Gunter (left) and the sound man from River Ridge Presbyterian Church, in New Port Richey. As you can see, they seem to grow taller down there… Pastor Bill had some great words to say to challenge people during the middle of the concert!!

I went up into the U.P. again this year for a week of concerts. The only difference this time, was that I also went into MN and then down into WI, so I did a lot more driving for the week. I sang in 6 different churches, and received numerous blessings from those people! My van broke down at one point, and I had my home church and home group start praying right away, to have it fixed in time to make the next day’s concert. I made it to the UMC in Hayward, and Pastor Paul helped get the van to a shop and then drove me to a place to eat. While they were repairing the van, another man from the church, Ken, took me out to his cabin on the lake and showed me around the area and a nice long boat ride…

The van was fixed in time and everything worked out to get to the next concert!! God took a possible disaster and turned it into a huge blessing!! When I came to the First Presbyterian Church, in Phillips, WI, I had pretty much spent most of the money I had received that week, on the van. When the pastor took up a love-offering, he specifically prayed that God would lead people to pay enough to cover my loss from my van repair. Since there was a somewhat small group of people, I sort of had my doubts. But God proved me wrong, and the offering came to about $36 more than the total repair cost!! A lady from that church even gave me her entire house for the evening, all to myself. On top of that, there was a mom, with her daughters, who sat right in the front of the church, and every child was really listening…

A week later, I received a very special letter from that family, and every daughter wrote a note about how they appreciated the songs… Something I will keep forever in my file of special notes.

Recently, I met some great people right in my hometown area, at Ivanrest Church. They built a stage out in front, and my friend, Jim, came and helped me lead some worship… These are some great ways for churches to show that Jesus is alive in that community!!

This past weekend, I met some great new friends at First UMC in Warsaw. A bunch of us went out to lunch and found out that we all have the same weird humor that only certain people can understand….

I even met the founding bass player, John, from the band Petra, and we are hoping to get back together and jam sometime!

As we come into August, I am looking forward to going up into Ontario for a week and sharing in a number of churches there!! Fall is just around the corner, but I still have over 20 concerts to share in. It has been amazing how the Lord has opened doors!

Please be praying for my travels, for the van to keep going, (I got a newer one since last year, but it still has a lot of miles and needs some repairs), for our financial needs to be met, for me to get time to practice and communicate with churches and camps, and also for me to grow in Christ, and not get side-tracked with other roads that Satan wants me to go down.

Thanks for reading this letter, and feel free to email me with fellowship or with a prayer request.
